Best Neutral Sherwin-Williams Paint Colors (White Duck, Dot To Dot and Pure White)
I picked up a free paint color look book from Sherwin-Williams and narrowed down my favorite colors. The white colors I liked the most can be found HERE.
I purchased a few different quarts of white paint colors from Sherwin Williams and painted 2 ft x 2 ft squares of each color on the wall to be painted. This way I could rule out which colors I immediately disliked and see which colors seemed like they provided heavier coverage. I also held a piece of white paper up to each painted sample to compare and see what undertones jumped out at me.
The colors I fell in love with and painted in our home include:
White Duck
White Duck is a fantastic white. It has undertones of grey and beige. We painted White Duck in semi-gloss in our kitchen, dining room, and second floor living room.
White Duck painted in the dining room. The wall to the right is Dot To Dot.
Dot To Dot
A wonderful neutral grey, Dot To Dot pairs great with White Duck. This color has undertones of grey and beige.
We used a color sensing gadget to identify this paint color which was already used. We painted Dot To Dot in our hallways, bedrooms, guest bathrooms, and downstairs living room.
Downstairs living room painted Dot To Dot.
Guest bedroom painted Dot To Dot.
Pure White
I painted all of our baseboards, stair rail spindles, master bathroom, and our garage with Pure White. For the baseboards and stair rail spindles, I purchased Pure White in a semi-gloss finish. I learned that the semi-gloss is a durable finish perfect for areas that get cleaned frequently. For the garage, I purchased Pure White in an eg-shel finish – it has a slight hint of shine and holds up better for cleaning. I didn’t use a flat finish, mainly because it would be more difficult to clean, and may show fingerprints and scuffs. Flat finishes are ideal for low-traffic areas, such as ceilings.
Garage painted Pure White.
Colors that didn’t make the cut:
Shoji White
I really loved this color, I really wanted to go with this color, but in certain light, this color looked pinkish to me. * sigh *
Creamy
Another amazing white, more yellow-ish though. Very warm white.
Natural Tan
Loved. Very warm, tan-ish white. Can we even call this a white paint? Guess so!
